The Museum of Ethnography «Cossack izba»
The Museum of Ethnography «Cossack izba» was founded in 2011 in a renovated authentic Cossack house, which was originally built in 1896 in the center of Arbaty village. In that village there are a lot of houses which were built by people over 100 years ago. In the 18th century the Cossacks came to the territory of modern Tashtyp district to protect the borders. They built the Outpost, and founded the Arbaty village in 1768.
«Cossack izba» is 90 meters square and shows the traditional way of Cossacks’ life in the 19th century.
The museum exhibition reflects the traditions and identity of Cossacks, promotes respect for the historical heritage of the previous generations, a careful attitude to monuments of history, and fosters patriotism.
Together with representatives of the Sayan district Cossack society, which is a part of the Yenisei Cossack troops on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia, museum administration organizes events connected with the patriotic education and popularization of cultural traditions of the Siberian Cossacks.
