Stone art museum of Poltakov
In 1980 on the territory of Askiz and Beya districts scientists carried out an archeological diggings in the area of irrigation system’s building. As a result, they had collected 93 stelae, and decided to install it at the same place — on the square in front of the House of Culture in the Poltakov village.
To make an exposition people created an artificial mound, which imitated a barrow, and set up the stelae along the perimeter of this mound. On the stelae there are about 1,000 petroglyphs — fantastic animals and anthropomorphic figures, patrimonial tamgas and solar symbols. Age of the earliest of which is approximately 4.5 thousand years. And the most recent dates is the beginning of the XX century.
