Lake Tus occupies a special place among the variety of water recreational and tourist attractions. Its uniqueness lies in the degree of mineralization of the water composition, the salt concentration of which is comparable to the Dead Sea, which is an excellent therapeutic prevention of the musculoskeletal cardiovascular and nervous diseases.
Lake Tus is located in the middle of the steppe hills of the northern part of Khakassia, 40 kilometers from Lake Shira. On the western side, a mountain range comes close to it, elevating 140 meters. On the other sides, the valley is flat and open. The area of the lake is 2.65 square kilometers, the length of the shoreline is 8 kilometers, the maximum depth is 4.5 meters. The water is bitter-salty, not transparent, warms up very well in summer. The bottom is silty, with good deposits of sulfur-hydrogen mud. Due to its location in a hollow, strong winds are rare here, the air warms up to 35 degrees and the water temperature in shallow water can reach 25 degrees, which makes Lake Tus a favourable place for swimming.
Today Lake Tus actively attracts tourists for hydrotherapy and beach recreation. Active recreation on Lake Tus is not provided. Along the shores of the lake there are several recreation centers, on the territory of which you can stay both in houses and in a tent. Staying in tents, you need to take along firewood or coal for a fire, a sunshade. Be sure to bring fresh water for drinking and cooking, as there are no fresh water sources in the vicinity. Organized beaches always have imported fresh water for washing. Some vacationers, after visiting Lake Tus, stop by the nearby Lake Kiprino to wash off the salt. In addition, do not forget about repellents to use against blood-sucking insects.
