The lake is located on the watershed of the Uta and Beya rivers. It is outstretched north-eastwards. The northern and southern shores of the lake are steep, while the western and eastern shores are gently sloping and slightly swampy.
In August 1998, the specialists from the Tomsk Institute of Balneology and Physiotherapy researched the lake. According to the results, the depth of the lake at the sampling points did not exceed 4.2 m, and the maximum thickness of bottom deposits reaches 0.4 m.
The water in the lake is bitter and salty, transparent, alkaline, with the main ion-salt composition it is chloride-sulphate-sodium. It also contains bromine and orthoboric acid. In 2016, the shore of the lake was equipped with a beach.
